Age of Despair: After the devastation of the Age of War, The Gods and Demon Lords agreed to withdraw from the affairs of Arden. While The Gods honored this treaty, the Demon Lords, led by Asmodraxas did not. Through their influence, the Empire of Fear arose to dominate the world and institute a 1000-year reign of terror known as the Age of Despair. The Age of Despair was brought to an end by the defeat of Asmodraxas at the hands of the Mighty Champion, which began the subsequent and current Age of Hope.
