Erimandras: (978-990) An evil wizard.  Overmaster of the Dark Magic Society. The youngest arcane grandmaster on record, brilliant, subtle, and ruthless. A disciple of Asmodraxas.

Arkayne, God of Magic, rated Erimandras one of the five most powerful wizards in Arden. (He didn't mention who the other four might be.) Erimandras attained the rank of arcane master by age five (983). He was an arcane grandmaster by age seven (985). At eight, he slew the preceding Overmaster, Khalizar the Wicked, and assumed leadership of the Society (986). He then began construction of the Mirror of Asmodraxas (or Black Mirror) which allowed communication with Asmodraxas in his null space prison. Asmodraxas instructed Erimandras to find Jason Cosmo, believed to be the reincarnation of the Mighty Champion who banished the Archdemon.

Under Erimandras, the Society launched a worldwide search for Jason Cosmo, offering a ten million carat bounty and spreading rumors and gossip about his supposed crimes. At Erimandras's direction, the Society also launched a bloody offensive against member of the League of Benevolent Magic and any unaffiliated wizards or other magic-users who refused to join the Society, pushing to achieve a monopoly on magic use.

Erimandras presided over the debacle at Fortress Marn, when Jason Cosmo, Mercury Boltblaster, and a force of Malravian tribesmen invaded the Society stronghold and ultimately brought it down, killing many of the Ruling Conclave. Erimandras lost a Cards of Power duel with Boltblaster, which caused his physical form to fade into insubstantiality. He managed to hold himself together long enough to escape via teleportal to his secret hideout beneath Caratha. Cosmo, Boltblaster and Natalia Slash pursued and confronted him there. Erimandras sought to destroy them with the Jaws of Death but lost control of the Jaws in his weakened condition. Erimandras was swallowed whole by the Jaws and vanished from mortal ken.

Erimandras wielded an authorized souvenir replica of the legendary Superwand.

Appearance:

He wore a fine robe the color of a nightmare and an elaborate horned headdress. Gaunt face, pale skin, thin black lips.
